How you learn
The Alexander Technique is learned in one-to-one lessons, perhaps after first attending an introductory workshop. Each lesson is organised around the individual pupil according to needs.
As I analyse your patterns of tension, you will learn about your own good use, and begin to move more freely, and improve your posture. As you learn to recognise your own bad habits you will be able to change those habits into lighter, more fluid movements.
You will also learn the Alexander Technique semi-supine position. This, practised everyday for just 15 minutes, will help you to get your spine into the rested condition of a good night's sleep.
How many lessons do I need?
The number of lessons varies according to individual needs. A typical lesson is 40 minutes. A course of 10 lessons will help you assess the benefit of the technique for yourself. An intermediate course of 20 to 25 lessons is recommended to be able to sustain lasting results and make continuous self-improvement possible.
Group Workshops
"Introductory beginners workshops" every second Saturday of the month. These are small group workshops which offer a friendly and informal opportunity to find out more about the Alexander Technique. From 11:30-13:30 (£20) on: Jun 12th - Sep 11th - Oct 9th - Nov 13th - Dec 11th
"The Alexander Technique in the Office Environment" Sun Sep 5th 10:30-13:30 (£40). We'll be looking at ways we use ourself at work and on how to correct and improve bad habits to maximise performance and relieve stress.
Amongst other things about yourself, you will learn how to organise your office environment to suit your body movements, how to respond mentally to stressful deadlines, how to cope at multi-tasking while remaining balanced and organised in yourself.
If you require tailor-made workshops for your business/organisation I can arrange for them to be run either at your premises or off-site.
